I believe in the power of creativity.
In my own life, I have tried many forms of artistic self-expression, but my passion, as it turns out, is knitting. No one is more surprised by that than I am. My fiber art education began with my grandma when I was 8 years old. And while it has always been something to do, to master, to enjoy and share, I never could have imagined a day to day life surrounded by yarn and needles, literally.
I am a designer, fiber artist, and certified knitting instructor. In addition to teaching men, women, and children of every interest and skill level for more than 7 years, I spent 3 years at Brown Sheep Co. doing what I would call my "higher education" and "earning my stripes" by teaching classes and workshops, managing the retail store, giving tours of the mill, and learning the inner workings of the manufacturing end of this industry.
I am also a founder, board member, and proud co-sponsor of the Scotts Bluff Valley Fiber Arts Fair held annually the third week in September.
Since the beginning of this adventure, my dream was big: to be completely self-supported by knitting and fiber art. Last year I took the next step in that process by setting out on my own. I continue to market my classes and offer a wide range of group and private workshops in many different venues. I am also working towards publishing my own design work and patterns for teaching as well as public sales.
This blog is a way to share my journey as I move in that direction.
